I know it’s been a while since my last post, and maybe the topic of this post is the reason for that.
I’ve had a very successful year at my role. I’ve brought it new clients. I’ve made connections with important prospects. I’ve developed an extremely strong network for my industry. I’ve started building a strong foundation for the legacy I’ve talked about. I’ve developed and cultivated a lot of great content to market our company. I’ve brought on an inside sales rep to help us continue to evolve. I’ve become a trusted asset within, not only our BD team, but our whole company team.
So, why would I not feel like I’m accomplishing much as of late? Probably because I’m in it and can’t see it from the outside. I’ve talked about having a great backing system and how important it is to have supportive people around you. That only goes so far though when you are in sales, BD, and marketing. As I’ve mentioned, it can be lonely.
What did I just realize I needed? A re-charge! This can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. To me it means taking a step back and realizing why I’ve been successful or unsuccessful and being really honest with myself. I can do that while I’m still moving forward in my profession, but some need to take a step back and spend some time alone. There’s no wrong answer. If you need to go find a cabin in a woods with no electricity and disconnect for a few days…DO IT!
My advice is that if you are feeling like you are in the same place I was the past month or so, take some time and figure out what has made you who you are. If you are happy with it, keep that going. If you are unhappy, make changes. You can do this!
