People that know me well know that I’ve never been the type to need to meet everyone in the room or announce my presence. You’ll rarely see me at conferences or networking events “working the room.” I’m a quick judge of where I need to spend my energy and I’m happy to stay in the corner with a great 1 on 1 conversation over spending my time talking to someone that brings me no value.
With that being said, I’ll talk to pretty much anyone if the opportunity presents itself. The logic I follow is that, as protective as I am about my time and my energy, those moments must actually be worthwhile if I’m in that situation.
Follow your energy and make sure you make the most out of your conversations that your energy has brought you to. Success will follow those moments.
